SYNOPSIS
WHY THE BLEEP DO THEY HATE ME? takes a youthful and upbeat look at the title question while showcasing Jewish life, contributions to society, humor, traditions and family values. The film seeks understanding through many viewpoints via candid street interviews and formal conversations with a variety of informed and uninformed individuals and groups.

In this feature-length documentary, Mike Rott, Director of the award-winning documentary film, The Luft Gangster: Memoirs of a Second Class Hero, examines why Jews are often viewed negatively as well as the origins of those perceptions. Is it a lack of understanding? Misinformation? The product of religious manipulation throughout history? Simply age-old irrational bigotry? Perhaps the answer is all of the above.

Mike will star as the main character and narrator. A Jewish man himself, Rott navigates the story as a non-confrontational “cultural anthropologist” who simply wants to understand, WHY THE BLEEP DO THEY HATE ME? In the first act of the film, he will candidly explore the varying public perceptions about Jewish people with a fresh, light-hearted approach aimed at reaching a new generation. The audience will gain a factual and deep understanding of the antisemitic myths and propaganda that have been disseminated throughout many generations while enjoying some good old fashioned Jewish “shtick.”
