    Where They Go, We Go
    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
Fans of the television series Wynonna Earp, known as Earpers, are considered the most cohesive, generous and loving fandom in the world. Let’s celebrate them.

    SYNOPSIS
In 2016 a supernatural western television show premiered on the SyFy network. Based on the premise that the descendant of legendary lawman, Wyatt Earp, would be tasked with ending a curse placed on the family line, no one could have anticipated the far-reaching impacts this low-budget production would have on its cast, the landscape of television itself and, most importantly, the viewers that would be its most ardent fans. The show was Wynonna Earp and its fans would become known as Earpers.

The presence of Earpers on social media platforms was almost immediate, but it was showrunner Emily Andras’s trope-defying decision to spare a lesbian character’s life, in a year that had seen more lesbian character deaths on television than any other, that caused the fandom to explode in size overnight. Suddenly, queer fans had found a haven in both the show of Wynonna Earp and its fan community.

Earpers dedicated themselves to not only uplifting the television show they loved, but also each other. Calling themselves “small, but mighty”, Earpers built their fandom on a culture of kindness, generosity, acceptance and support. Conventions celebrating the television show and the fandom itself began popping up around the world with fans not only excited to meet the cast but also each other. The term “found family” became a cornerstone within the Earper community to describe the deep and meaningful relationships that blossomed amongst its members.

WHERE THEY GO, WE GO is a film about the little fandom that could. Traveling along to fan-run Wynonna Earp conventions across the U.S. and Canada and meeting the Earpers, those associated with the series, and exploring how a tiny television show, and the community it spawned, helped change lives for the better.
