ABOUT THE PROJECT
LOGLINE
On a Friday night in Brooklyn, three Jewish siblings succumb to their adolescent urges while trying not to get in trouble with God, or worse, their mom.
SYNOPSIS
Naomi has raised, by any standard but hers, a great family. With her oldest daughter Rachel moving out of the house, Naomi is desperate for one perfect memory to hold onto—one perfect dinner with her three kids.
Rachel (22) has been planning a hookup for months. She’s tired of maintaining her pristine exterior and needs one night to find out what’s beneath it. She’s becoming an adult, and adults have sex with one another. It’s not usually on seedy websites, but Rachel doesn’t have any more time to wait around.
Ben (16) is trying to buy weed before sundown… from his friend DJ, the same girl Rachel is supposed to meet. By the time they finish jumping through all the religious loopholes of the Sabbath, Ben and DJ have smoked three joints and are an hour late for dinner.
Nathan (9), abandoned by his brother, Ben, is happy to explore aimlessly… until he stumbles onto a new taco truck with a new carnitas meat he’s never heard of. From that point on, his mission for the night becomes clear: another bite.
Trapped in a web of overlapping lies, the three siblings spend the evening narrowly avoiding discovery and desperately evading Naomi. Rachel’s hookup cancels, Ben gets crazy high, and Nathan’s full. Way too full. With Naomi already on edge with Rachel leaving, the family must face each other’s faults head-on, leaving it all on the dinner table. Quite literally.
