    ABOUT THE PROJECT

    LOGLINE
A young boy and his terminally-ill mom go on the biggest adventure of their lifetimes.

    SYNOPSIS
Eight-year-old Charlie used to go on adventure trips with his now terminally ill mom Hannah. On this special night she surprises him and they take Grandpa's convertible to go on a secret road trip to Joshua Tree. On their way, Charlie learns to drive, they eat the best junk food at an old diner in the middle of the desert, and the stars seem to sparkle as bright as never before. A night to remember.

When they finally arrive at Joshua Tree, they watch the most astonishing sunrise, Hannah’s favorite time of the day. It is right there, right then, that Charlie learns an important lesson about courage and hope that will prepare him for the inevitable fate that lays ahead of them.

SEE YOU AT SUNRISE explores how a child may deal with a terminal illness and unavoidable loss of a parent. Its themes are loss, grief journey, but also hope and courage. We’re invited in Charlie’s mind and how he experiences his love for his mom, his memories of them together and the wisdom that comes with overcoming hardship.

This 14 min film will be a combination of Charlie’s POV, beautiful artistic landscape imagery and wide shots of the dessert and Joshua Tree at dusk and dawn filmed with a RED Epic Dragon 6k camera. It has the feel of an adventure movie, a fun road trip mixed with beautiful landscape shots of our stunning country—without compromising the sensitive matter of experiencing the terminal illness of a parent at home.

Our crew is highly diverse and it’s very important to us that everyone’s voice matter. We are more than 50% female filmmakers and strive for absolute inclusivity and acceptance.
