FilmDOO helps people to discover and watch great films from around the world, including documentaries and shorts. Essentially, they help people discover non-Hollywood films, which include independent films from the US and UK, as well as mainstream blockbuster films from China and Japan, for example. They not only help people to discover films but languages and regions, and are very much a ‘TripAdvisor for Films.’

TFC actually featured FilmDOO in blog entry in late 2017, so you will definitely want to check that out! Sydney Levine has also written an article on FilmDOO, which you can read here.

FilmDoo launches platform for Southeast Asian cinema

UK-based streaming service FilmDoo is expanding its line-up with a focus on Southeast Asian cinema, including titles such as banned documentary Boundary and Tom Waller’s The Last Executioner.

June 2, 2016

Starting tomorrow (June 3), the platform (www.filmdoo.com/southeastasia) will stream 14 Southeast Asian films - 11 globally and three exclusive to Thailand - many of which have not been previously distributed on home video.

Nontawat Numbenchapols Boundary, set along the troubled Thailand-Cambodia border, premiered at Berlin in 2013, while The Last Executioner won best director and best actor at this years Dhaka International Film Festival.

FilmDoos Southeast Asian line-up also includes Woo Ming Jins The Second Life Of Thieves, Rooth Tangs Sway and Tongpong Chantarangkuls I Carried You Home, which won best actress and best cinematography at Thailands National Film Association Awards.

The future of cinema is about innovating distribution, opening up channels for new ideas and voices to be heard. Im grateful to see were making strides towards that and for Sway to play a small part, said Tang, director of Sway, which premiered at Toronto 2014.

Founded by Weerada Sucharitkul and William Page, FilmDoo was launched at Cannes last year and was a UK finalist in the MassChallenge accelerator programme. It also streams arthouse and classic titles from Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and other parts of Asia.
