VOD service Pantaflix to launch in Europe and USA

July 16, 2016

German actor Matthias Schweighöfer is following in the footsteps of Netflix, Amazon and maxdome to set up a video-on-demand (VOD) service.

Pantaflix will launch on July 28, 2016 in Europe and the USA, with further territories to follow. The target is global availability.

In contrast to existing VOD portals that purchase their films from sales companies or distributors, Schweighöfer wants to enable producers to directly target their audience through Pantaflix – without intermediaries.

This will considerably increase revenues for creators, according to Schweighöfer’s film production company Pantaleon Entertainment. As licence vendors are circumvented who usually sell the rights on a territory-by-territory basis, viewers will be able to access the films worldwide.

The VOD service will be operated by Pantaflix GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Pantaleon Entertainment.
