Here's what some of our clients are saying about us!
[You have] rekindled my excitement about [my] film and this whole process, which, as of late, had been fading…so, thank you…not only for your practical help thus far, but for your confidence that, with some work, this film can find its proper place. Working without TFC versus working with TFC—night and day.”

I greatly enjoy reading The Film Collabrative blog. It is one of the best, most informative sets of writing on independent film there is. Really breaks down the business and helps us create realistic perceptions/goals. Wonderful stuff. ”

Not only does TFC live up to their promise of being on the side of the filmmaker…they go beyond what's expected and behave as if they were the filmmaker themselves, fighting passionately for our interests, but with the crucial advantage of having the relationships, knowledge and experience that filmmakers, especially first timers, don't have.
It's thanks to TFC's advice that we have been able to find avenues to make money with the film that we had never considered or heard of before. Considering how hard they work for the films they represent…I'm always amazed that they consistently take the time to take my calls and answer my questions right away.
It's great to have such a close relationship with TFC, something that it's very hard to find in the traditional world of sales agents and distribution companies. And in contrast to those traditional companies, TFC's business model allows them to reduce their expenses, so you can be sure that you'll see a bigger percentage of the profits your film is generating.”

The Film Collaborative fills a void. In indie distribution you can go out and hire a pricey consultant (we won‘t name names) who you get the feeling is withholding information and contacts and luring you along with the proverbial distribution pot of gold. Alternatively, you can attempt to wade through all the landfill that exists on the internet yourself (it‘s all there, but good luck!).
This is where the Film Collaborative comes in.
They have sifted through it all and present it in a transparent way, so filmmakers can determine for themselves where their film sits and take action where it best makes sense.”

Before hooking up with Orly at TFC, we had been using a sales rep. He negotiated a very unappealing deal for us with IFC, which we rejected. Unhappy with his results and commitment level, we decided to terminate that relationship when his contract ran out. We realized that we were the best people to sell our film.
We continued to get accolades through the film festival circuit, and after about 8 months, we circled back to a conversation with IFC. This time, negotiating on our own behalf, we were able to get a deal we were much more comfortable considering.
At this point, we had a lawyer we could barely afford helping us with contracts. A good friend of mine, and fellow explorer in the new world of indie distribution, David Larkin, suggested that I talk to Orly.
I'm so happy that I did. She was really talking our language and was able to give us incredibly sound advice. At that point, we were trying to decide whether to take the IFC deal or to self-distribute. Orly advised us and agreed to help us negotiate the terms our IFC deal. Working with TFC, rather than a traditional sales rep and lawyer, gave us a genuine ally in the negotiations and saved us thousands of dollars. That's incredibly significant for micro-budget productions.
My only regret is that we didn't partner up with her straight out of the gate. I tell every indie filmmaker I meet who's trying to navigate the new terrain of indie distribution about Orly and the Film Collaborative.”

Adventures of Power had done a small theatrical release and was seeking a DVD partner. There were various offers on the table, but the offers were not attractive, nor did I, as an independent filmmaker, completely understand the ramifications of the contracts. The Film Collaborative not only sought out a better company to release the DVD, but helped negotiate much better terms with that company, so that the DVD company feels like a partner, instead of like thieves, which is how a lot of filmmakers describe their DVD companies.
There is absolutely no question that my distribution contracts and relationships are far, far better thanks to TFC than they would have been without them. I couldn't have found this deal on my own. TFC changed me from feeling lost and alone, to excited and knowledgeable.”
